No matter what your personal goal is, these are three helpful strategies to keep in mind:

Be consistent
Be patient
Take small steps

Be consistent
Most New Year’s resolutions take the form of altering one’s health via diet and exercise. Make a realistic plan, and stick to it by creating healthy habits that you include in your daily routine. Whatever those habits are, you need to be consistent with them if you want to see change.

Be patient
You will not see results overnight and, let’s be honest, you probably won’t see results for weeks, depending on what it is you are working towards. It’s okay. Remember, any physical improvement is a mental game as well. You have to want it.

Take small steps
Trying to make huge changes in your diet or your activity level could leave you discouraged, frustrated and possibly injured. Even if you are highly enthusiastic about making changes, remember that your body and your mind need time to adapt.

To set a realistic goal you will have to make a lifestyle change, which is not an easy thing to do. Focus on each day, because what you do today will have an effect on what you do tomorrow.

Please remember to speak with your health care provider before making any changes to your diet and exercise routines.
