If you really care about where your recycled paper goes and wonder how important it is, some great info in today’s Wall Street Journal.  It’s great for many reasons. The article clearly demonstrates the need for materials required to make toilet paper, hand towels and paper napkins. But it also demonstrates what one company, SCA, is doing to create sustainable partnerships with its suppliers in the USA.

Like many companies, SCA faces increasing competition in emerging markets – like China! From my view, SCA is doing everything right including putting money into programs that advise recycling centers & by providing funding for them to upgrade equipment. With such high demands, they are also asking recycling center owners to dig deeper and to process more “dirty”  paper. Not a pretty visual but a sustainable thought…

So, the first eco-friendly move is to reduce your use of paper in any way possible and then be sure to recycle everything you can when you can!
