Golden Eagle Distributors Green Environment

Golden Eagle logoGolden Eagle Distributors, Inc. is an active supporter of Mrs. Green’s World and a business leader in green alternatives in the workplace. The company was the inaugural winner of Mrs. Green’s World’s Arizona’s Greenest Workplace Challenge in 2010. “Taking care of our environment and making sound business decisions that include environmental awareness has always been part of our business plan,” said Kimberly Clements, president, Golden Eagle Distributors (GED), Inc.

Why Golden Eagle is a Leader in Green Workplace Initiatives

GED recycles aluminum, glass, cardboard, plastic and paper. Recycling bins for paper and plastic are located throughout our facility. The GED “Green Team” encourages employees to recycle their empty beverage containers, reuse paper, and conserve energy by turning off lights in areas not in use. This team of employees helps keep Green initiatives at the forefront of our minds by rewarding employees who are “caught” recycling, and educating employees on green topics. GED headquarters is conveniently located on a bus route with a stop in front of the building. The company actively communicates alternative modes of transportation and encourages carpooling.

The company focuses on making its facilities more energy efficient. It has installed new lights in the warehouse (656,000 kilowatts per year will be saved, the equivalent of planting 121 trees per year). HVAC controls were changed resulting in electric usage dropping 8.7% and natural gas usage dropping 60%.

At special events throughout Tucson, Golden Eagle provides at no cost, reusable recycling bins. The company also provides compostable beverage cups made from corn to be used at special events. They also provide recycling bags to area lakes to encourage boaters to properly remove trash.

Golden Eagle has just converted their large delivery fleet in Tucson from diesel to CNG (compressed natural gas) and installed a CNG station at their headquarters in Tucson. The station is also open to the public. Through the use of UPS Logistics software, the company increases its fuel efficiency by effectively rerouting delivery vehicles to maximize routing efficiency.
