All sales directly support the building of additional energy-efficient homes in the community. The store utilizes photovoltaic systems and high-efficiency lighting to reduce electricity costs by 50%.

How does the company engage and inform employees and consumers about sustainability? (500 character max.)

The HabiStore serves as a recycling hub that helps people keep working, useable household items out of landfills. The store has upcycled materials for signage and displays. It also hosts workshops on repurposing items. Habitat Tucson uses the store’s profits to fund additional energy efficient homes, which turns reused materials into houses for others. There are also signs, posters, and sheets on how to continue to be eco-friendly at the HabiStore.

Donating and shopping at the HabiStore helps Habitat for Humanity Tucson build and renovate homes for hardworking local families. Proceeds are used to buy nails, lumber, roof tiles, windows and doors…all of the items required to construct a home and renovate existing homes. By donating an item you help keep over 250 tons of material out of the local landfill. By buying items destined for the landfill, you contribute to the local green movement.

Our volunteers at the HabiStore are hardworking and passionate about the organization’s mission to build a world where everyone has a decent place to live. They serve customers, create sales displays, repair donated items, unload the trucks, and more. The HabiStore also has discount days for veterans and senior citizens every week
