How does the company you are nominating exemplify the concepts of reducing, reusing and recycling? (500 character max.)

Laura does not let anything go to waste. Lights are all LED. Fabric scraps are reused for accessories & small scraps are donated to schools and other organizations for art projects, etc. Paper, plastic, paper towel tubes, etc, are always recycled. Fixtures at the Atelier are made from repurposed pipes and wood. Furniture was found on Craigslist and at antiques stores. All product, of natural fibers, is Made Right Here, so minimal transport costs. We use USPS to send finished product to clients.

How does the company engage and inform employees and consumers about sustainability? (500 character max.)

Laura hosts a monthly Sustainability Series that is open to everyone. Each month covers a different topic, such as urban gardening or greening your holidays. The response has been fabulous!

Employees are introduced to sustainable practices for reduce, reuse and recycle. Laura doesn’t let anyone throw away anything. Employees are encouraged to participate in the monthly Sustainability Series as well.

How does the company you are nominating give back to the community? (500 character max.)

Laura hosts a monthly Sustainability Series that is open to everyone. Each month covers a different topic, such as urban gardening or greening your holidays. The response has been fabulous!

Laura contributes to numerous charity organizations, both with her time and auction donations.

Laura is one of a few in the new vanguard of sustainable fashion companies. It will take time, but we all aim to ‘clean up’ the second filthiest industry on the planet!
