In 2007, Cox launched Cox Conserves and has prevented 65,000 tons of carbon from entering the environment, diverted 6,000 tons of waste from landfill and conserved 55 million gallons of water. Through Cox Conserves, the company seeks to send zero waste to landfill by 2024 and be carbon and water neutral by 2044. In Southern Arizona, Cox has incorporated its green practices into their operations through paperless billing, fleet optimization, water reduction and recycling initiatives.
How does the company engage and inform employees and consumers about sustainability? (500 character max.)
Cox encourages its employees, customers, vendors and fellow corporations to adopt environmentally responsibility practices and recognizes leaders in that area. Cox Business encourages customers to go paperless. In one quarter alone, more than 50,000 pieces of paper were saved.
Cox annually hosts electronic recycling events to encourage customers and employees to bring in their unwanted electronics for reuse.

In addition to these formal green programs, Cox annually contributes more than $2M in cash and in-kind investments to more than 100 community and nonprofit organizations across Southern Arizona. Nearly 25% of our total corporate social responsibility investments in southern Arizona support conservation and sustainability in the community over the next four years. In 2015, Cox employees volunteered more than 3,600 hours in the community.

Cox is proudly celebrating 10 years of commitment to conservation and sustainability in 2017. Since Cox Conserves launched in 2007, the company and its affiliated foundations have invested more than $100 million in sustainability and conservation though operations projects and grants to environmental nonprofits.
Cox has committed nearly half a million dollars to conservation and sustainability in the community over the next four years. As part of its Cox Conserves effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Cox employs electric vehicles, fuel-efficient models and hybrids. 90% of the network operations vehicles at Cox Communications utilize a new hybrid operating system and are zero emissions vehicles during aerial operations.
In 2012, Cox launched Cox Conserves Heroes to honor green champions. More than $650,000 has been donated to environmental nonprofits including the Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center and Desert Harvesters and Green Infrastructure Planning.
