The 2017 Sustainability Series is kicking off January 25! Green Living Magazine, Laura Tanzer, Local First Arizona, Mrs. Green’s World and Delectables Restaurant are partnering to put on a series of events, where experts in the community will share their thoughts and encourage discussion about a different topic each month. The free series hopes to inspire, empower, and educate guests who attend, providing them with tips and resources for living a more sustainable lifestyle.
The events will be at Laura Tanzer’s Atelier on 410 N. Toole Ave. #110, on the last Wednesday of every month. The events will be from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. The dates and topics are as follows:
Jan. 25 Social Justice – REGISTER HERE
Feb. 22 Artisan Local Food Movement, City of Gastronomy
Mar. 22 Clean Air
Apr. 26 Recycling and Composting
May 24 Waste Water
Jun. 28 Water Harvesting
The partners will invite two to three specialists per event, from the community to come and speak with the audience about the work they are doing that helps make the Tucson area more sustainable. The speakers will also answer questions and engage in conversations with the guests. Details will be posted to the sponsoring organizations’ websites and Facebook pages closer to the event dates.
The partners of the Sustainability Series view this as an opportunity to engage with different members of the community, and to be an inviting series that will attract guests of all level of experience in sustainability. Whether people are experts or novices, and just want to learn more, the events will be geared to answer questions for all levels of interest. “Sustainability is a cornerstone of our work at Local First Arizona,” said Kimber Lanning, Executive Director of Local First Arizona. “We’re working every day to create a more conscious consumer that supports local businesses and fosters a more sustainable economy. Much of our work and our mission coincides with environmental sustainability, especially as we work to make all Local First Arizona events Towards Zero Waste events.”
