FoodCycling: Tucson & Fry’s Foods Lead the Way

Frys Food Stores have jumped on the food scrap collection bandwagon at all of their Tucson stores to partner with the City. Why is this such great news? Because Tucson’s Environmental Services Department estimates that 80 percent of landfill disposal is compostable or recyclable, and about 50 percent of food thrown away is compostable. Frys stepping up to the plate helps put a dent in that number and moves our City in a more sustainable direction. Join us to learn how this new program is going as well as what the FoodCycle program, one of only two Arizona communities collecting food scraps for composting, is all about and why we should care.
