Shred-a-thon 2011 – Earth Month Activity

Here’s yet another thing I love about being Mrs. Green, about sharing innovative, sustainable ideas on green talk radio and about spreading the good, green word in general.  There’s always something wonderful, fun or funny to share.  Case in point, the email I just received from my friend Robin from the Department of Environmental Quality. Don’t live in Tucson?  Start your own shred-a-thon – everyone has documents they want to get rid of & it helps to build or expand sustainable communities.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AND WASTE MANAGEMENT TO SPONSOR SHRED-A-THON

Federal and State taxes are due on Monday, April 18, 2011 and it is time to think about how to safely get rid of old, personal information. To help residents out, Tucson Environmental Services and Waste Management of Arizona are sponsoring a Shred-a-thon on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Reid Park from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

All documents collected will be securely shredded and recycled. There is no charge for the document disposal event. The Shred-a-Thon is being held adjacent to the Tucson Earth Day Festival which also begins at 9:00 a.m. Entrance to the Shred-a-Thon is on Country Club Rd. just north of 22nd Street on South Picnic Place.

There’s always something to celebrate and a million ways to make a difference.
