A Sense of Wonder — A Celebration of Children and Nature

The Center for Children & Nature (CCN) at Prescott College presents “A Sense of Wonder – A Celebration of Children & Nature” fundraiser and film screening at the Fox Tucson Theatre Friday, October 29, 2010, 5:30 — 9:30 pm.
Admission: $20 adults, $10 children 12-18
Includes film screening, presentations by Eb Eberlein and Petey Mesquitey, a silent auction, and food catered by Cafe 54!
A Sense of Wonder Fundraiser benefits The Center for Children and Nature youth community projects, EcoPrograms and scholarships, and includes an evening of film, food, a silent auction and entertaining presentations by Tucson personalities Petey Mesquitey and Eb Eberlein!
The fundraiser will be held at the historic Fox Tucson Theatre on Friday, October 29. Doors open at 5:30 with a silent auction featuring unique, eco-friendly goods and services from local providers. There will be an hour to eat, mingle, place bids and check out information tables from sponsors and other community groups. Starting at 6:30, local nature gurus Petey Mesquitey and Eb Eberlein will share stories, songs, and photos. To top off the evening, A Sense of Wonder will be screened at 8 pm. This hour-long documentary-style film highlights Rachel Carson’s passion for connecting children with nature and reflections on her groundbreaking book Silent Spring, about the impact of pesticides on the natural environment.
The Center for Children and Nature at Prescott College operates Ironwood Tree Experience (ITE) with a mission to connect teens with their community through experiences in nature. Teens participate in nature discovery outings and community action projects that include hiking, rock climbing, backpacking and camping, and kayaking.
