Green Travel? There’s an “App” for that!
My friend Scott, owner of Legendary World, is truly an Apple, iPhone, iPad addict. He starts to become increasingly obssessed with getting the newest gizmo the closer it gets to release date (clearly hyperbole on my part!)
Since we are good friends and constantly make jokes about “there’s an app for that” for just about anything we talk about, you can imagine his/my delight when he shared with me the “app” for GREEN TRAVEL. It somewhat decreased my guilt the last time I flew to LA.
Straight from the Legendary World’s Eco-Dude’s green travel page:
CO2 reduction made simple for responsible travelers
Green Travel Choice on your iPhone provides you with transparency to make an informed travel choice while on the road taking CO2 emissions into consideration. Whether it is your next trip overseas or just a ride downtown: Green Travel Choice gives responsible travelers a simple and effective way to make informed travel choices.
Remember that for example if you take the SUV from New York City to Washington D.C., the CO2 emissions are about 110 kg (240 lbs). If you would take the train they are only 21 kg (46 lbs). The average weekly CO2 emissions per person for travel in industrialised nations is around 50-66 kg (110-145 lbs).
p.s. Scott was delighted to calculate the impact of driving vs flying to San Diego (no, he does not have a hybrid – yet!) and ended up enjoying his flight guilt free…
