If You Are Going to Rock Today – Make it Green

Got up this morning ready to rock.  Did some meditation, listened to the rain and gave thanks for my family, for the rain, for shelter, for warmth, for clean water, stretched and then got ready to blog.  Why?  Because there is always so much to share.

So I read Seth Godin’s Blog and once again, felt compelled to share:

You rock

This is deceptive.

You don’t rock all the time.  Non one does.  No one is a rock star superstar world-changing artist aa the time.  In fact, it’s a self-defeating goal. You can’t do it.  No, but you might rock five minutes a day.

Five minutes to write a blog post that changes everything, or five minutes to deliver an act of generosity that changes someone. Five minutes to invent a great new feature, or five minutes to teach a groundbreaking skill in a way that no one ever thought of before. Five minutes to tell the truth (or hear the truth).

Five minutes a day you might do exceptional work, remarkable work, work that matters. Five minutes a day you might defeat the lizard brain long enough to stand up and make a difference.

And five minutes of rocking would be enough, because it would be five minutes more than just about anyone else.’

Great huh?  Well what if during that five minutes you decided to NEVER use a plastic bag again? That you told yourself  the US consumes 60,000 plastic bags every FIVE seconds and that you were NOT going to be one of them any longer?  That you know plastic bags are made from a petroelum by-product, that they NEVER biodegrade, that they are killing sea turtles and birds and they could TOTALLY be eliminated?  What if we all really did that and started a real, green revolution in the good old US of A?

Or if that doesn’t grab you, how about just not taking that plastic bottle offered to you in a meeting because you have your own stainless steel one?

No matter what, spend 5 minutes practicing sustainability! Reducing, reusing and if you have to take that plastic bottle, commit to recycling it. You rock.
