Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

People often forget that the first “R” is reduce!  It’s not about recycling that plastic bottle or bag, it’s about reducing your use of them.  Mrs. Green’s Three Rs page provides helpful, fun reminders on how to do all three – with the emphasis on REDUCE!

The Sustainable Grandma

It was about our vacation last week with our grandchildren and our activites. Excerpts: Here are [...]

Bookmans

Did you know that Bookmans has been an Arizona institution for over THIRTY years (when green was still just a color)? Did you know that Bookmans has six stores in Arizona (well – five at press time since snow destroyed the Flagstaff location). Did you know that they totally rely on their customers for the books, music, movies, video games, magazines, comics etc? Did you know that Bookmans hosts popular in-store events that range from art exhibits, musical performances, and animal festivals to reptile adoptions, yoga classes, and yo-yo workshops? (I did not make that up). Did you know that Bookmans offers free WiFi and loves pets? Did you know that Bookmans supports our community in ways too numerous to mention including the invaluable work of teachers? And I will bet you didn’t know that Bob and Amie Oldfather are passionately committed to and working towards mobilizing the community to become internationally recognized as The Solar City? Did you know that Bookmans creates a sense of community at each one of their locations? How do I know? Because I have enjoyed the experience many, many times. Good for your pocket, good for the planet, good for your soul.
